Nazmiye Oral is a well known Dutch actress and personality from Turkish descent. She released her debut fiction novel 'Zehra' in 2011, which tells the story of a young foreign child Zehra who connects with corpse washer Havva. The book got nominated for the E. du Perron prize. Nazmiye was a regular columnist for newspapers like De Volkskrant and De Gelderlander and for talkshows like De Nieuwe Maan and M. She also interviewed many politicians. She's one of the founders of the theater collective Female Economy and wrote plays like Gesluierde Monologen and Niet Meer Zonder Jou. The last one she performed together with her mother in Europe and New York.
Nazmiye's currently writing a second novel and developing multiple film scripts.
