Tijmen grew up in Mechelen - Belgium. At an early age he was fascinated by storytelling. At the Conservatory in Antwerp he studied Wordart and he developed a love for the stage and acting. He started with screen acting in projects like Professor T., Over Water and the feature film Wij by Rene Eller. With Michiel Dhont he worked on the short film Poor Kids and he featured in Girl by his brother Lukas Dhont. Girl won multiple awards at Cannes and was nominated for a Golden Globe for best Foreign Language Film. In theater Tijmen played leads in Angels in America by Olympique Dramatique and currently in Long Days Journey Into Night by Zuidpool. His first lead was in Muidhond (Tench) for which Tijmen got nominated for a Flemish Academy Award. Leads in series like De Kraak, Netflix's Two Summers and the historical drama 1985 followed. In film he continued with Kom Hier Dat Ik U Kus (Becoming Mona) and Holiday by Michiel Dhont. His latest performance in film was in Tori and Lokita by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, which won the 75th Anniversary Award at Cannes and Tijmen is nominated for a Magritte Award Best Supporting Actor.
